Happy New Year!

Wow – Hard to believe we are off and running on another year. The years seem to fly by. Emily is 30 now and Anna is a freshman at Mississippi State. Three of the five nieces and nephews are happily married to great folks. My parents are still doing fine. All three of the McHenry girls are cancer free. Nobody had surgery in 2010! Steve’s Mom is hanging in there. Steve is retired but back working part time. Lucy and Buster are doing what lucky spoiled rotten pups will do! Much to be thankful for as we embark into this new year!

It was a busy year of fun things. Steve and I started the year freezing in Gulf Shores and finished it in Gulf Shores in short sleeves. You have got to love living in the South. In between, we spent ten days in Oregon touring Mount Hood and the Columbia Gorge, took our annual baseball trip with Phillip – this time to St. Louis to see the Cards and Dodgers play, took a spur-of-the-moment trip to see the Braves play the Giants in the NLDS in Bobby Cox’s last year to manage, participated in Carols in our “usual roles”. Steve traveled some for work in state. I trekked to Charleston, West Virginia for NASACT, and we made several trips to Wiggins and McHenry for family things. We even trekked down to Claiborne County to find the Herlong family cemetery, find my Mom’s old home place, and check out the ruins at Windsor.

We still enjoyed watching Phillip and his pals play baseball, playing with JoEllen, and making room in out hearts for the Warf twins! We love all of that, for sure. We also said goodbye to Uncle Bill and Aunt Dee -you will find them as the best examples of what Aunts and Uncles should be. I am certain that Dolores McHenry Mauldin arranged some event in heaven for New Year’s Eve that was spectacular!

As 2011 begins to create its own history, only God knows the contents. We will trust Him to shape it to His glory and see where He takes us.

Happy 2011!

Still Choosing Joy!
