For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. (John 3:16, 17 KJV); Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. (John 15:13 KJV)
As a 9 year old in Vacation Bible School, John 3:16 came alive for me. I realized very clearly that God sent Jesus to die for me. Yet I don’t think I realized until much later in life and until I had experienced the pain that goes with the loss of someone you love that this was not something God had to do – it was something He chose to do. Tonight as I listened to Dr. Frank Page share about the death of his daughter Melissa by her own hand, something her Daddy would have done anything to prevent, he reinforced what God did for us – because He loved us that much.
No greater love. How thankful I am He loved me that way.
I believe.
Still choosing joy.
